Purpose: Visualizations of my list on 1000 POI global wide.
Tools: ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Illustrator

Notes:

I selected 1000 places of interest on my own, so the criteria are somewhat subjective.

Although I tried to make the selections more evenly, clearly it is still Euro-centric due to its nature. (More beautiful castles, palaces, towns in Europe…)

NOT ALL DESTINATIONS suitable for EVERYONE to visit, such as Mt. K2, McMurdo Dry Valleys, and some religious places.

If you have good suggestions that are not covered in this map, please mention them with some other places on the map that you don’t think is worth it, since I have to maintain 1000 POIs in total.

I tried to cover not only the popular tourist destinations but also some hidden wonders, ancient ruins, or challenging places to go, as well as some memorable places for dark tourism. Some of the sources are: World Heritages - Interactive Map, Lonely Planet, Most visited tourists attractions in the world, 世界の絶景 (Japanese book), Quora / Zhihu, Atlas Obscura, DK Natural / Man-Made Wonders of the World, Columbus World Travel Atlas 11th Edition
